The CARE2LEARN project is part of the European Commission’s international programme Erasmus+ and is aimed at children who are at the very beginning of their education. The goals of the Erasmus+ programme are the education, training, and mobility of young people, and cooperation with institutions and organisations in the field of education.

The main goal of the CARE2LEARN project is to prepare children and their parents for the first day of school, which is based on gamification, that is, activities that precede entering the classroom and facilitate the very process of getting used to classroom desks.

The role of gamification in preparing children for starting school

By strengthening socio-emotional competencies, the child will become ready to start school and master the school curriculum. By participating in the activities, children will have the opportunity to explore and find out what awaits them during schooling.

This will also be a great opportunity for the parents of future students to prepare because their child starting school is a great experience for them as well. Within the CARE2LEARN project, they will learn how to let their children be independent, but also how to support them in the right way.

This journey will last for 30 months and is a great opportunity for the cooperation of Savremena, the University of Zagreb, the training centre “Emphasys” in Cyprus, and the Parents’ Association “Step by Step”, with the aim that children from the earliest age acquire skills and competences that will facilitate their development and prepare them for the first day of school.

During the project, a mobile app will be designed that will contain a description of key competencies and tools for their evaluation, as well as games to improve those competencies. The parents can also use the app, through which they will receive materials and advice on which skills they and their children need to develop.

An international team of psychologists, educators, and pedagogues will work on these materials and everything will be based on the latest research results in the field of developmental pedagogy and education, as well as on the principles of positive parenting.
