Zlatibor, a big green classroom for Savremena’s primary students

Savremena’s students’ journey to Zlatibor was a joyous affair full of song, positive energy, great expectations and plans only children can have. During the next seven days, one of Serbia’s most beautiful mountains and the Dijamant hotel will be the school trip venue for the students of the most modern primary school in the region.

During the school year, teaching at Primary School Savremena was aimed at using modern technology; however, during the school trip, this approach will be altered. Namely, the students left their mobile phones at home, given that lessons at Zlatibor have been designed in a way that will allow them to learn about the world around them in a unique manner while enjoying the wonderful scenery.

The little ones and their teachers were greeted by great weather and kind employees who will take care of their needs and requirements.

After arriving at the 1,496-meter high mountain, Savremena’s students enjoyed a walk to the centre of Zlatibor, where they learnt about the main sights of this tourist destination. Afterwards, they returned to the hotel, had dinner and went to the disco where their hosts organised an entertaining evening.

The kids then went to bed, and on Monday, they can expect outdoor curricular activities and lots of interesting, educational and creative lessons.

Monday, 15 June – visiting the Stopić Cave and the Sirogojno ethno village

After the first day during which they travelled and got to know the Dijamant hotel and the scenery around Zlatibor, Savremena’s primary students started with their school activities on Monday.

The first stop on the educational journey through the wonderful Zlatibor landscape was the Stopić Cave, first written about in 1901. The 1,691-meter river cave through which the Trnava river flows left the students breathless.

Special speleological attractions here include the arc known as Dog’s Cemetery, the river canal, the bright and dark halls, and, most of all, a unique 9.4-meter high waterfall called the Source of Life.

Above the Stopić Cave, whose beauty impressed the famous biologist and speleologist, Jovan Cvijić, the road leads to Sirogojno. Naturally, the next stop was the Old Village open air museum.

This oasis of peace, which gives an authentic insight into the life of people in the Dinara region, comprises around 50 houses on a 5 hectare location.

Disciplined and aware that they cannot in any way disrupt the surroundings, Savremena’s primary students looked around this incredible site with patience and curiosity, and left for the hotel with lots of impressions.

There, they enjoyed sports activities in the afternoon, while in the evening they took part in a fun game called “Show What You Got”, in which they presented themselves to their peers in an original manner.

Tuesday, 16 June – visit to the Dino Park, hiking and the “Šiz friz” contest

The weather at Zlatibor is fickle, a mixture of sunshine and rain; however, nothing can deter the adventurous Savremena’s students eager to learn. What’s important is that they are spending time outdoors with their friends, learning new things and breathing the fresh mountain air.

The third day of the school trip started with a visit to the Dino Park, a six-hectare area where the students saw 20 multimedia replicas of dinosaurs from the Cretaceous and Jurassic period, and lots of cutting-edge technology. They visited the zoo and the amusement park, and walked the neat paths that took them 300,000 years back to the time when these wonderful gigantic animals lived.

An active rest through walking was also the primary activity in the second part of the day. Now, however, instead of tyrannosauruses, spinosauruses and other dinosaurs, the students got to know Zlatibor’s flora and fauna. It was so fun that no one complained about fatigue or leg pain; everyone was happy and full of joy.

Upon returning to the hotel, the students didn’t even think about going to bed, as they took part in a new and interesting contest called “Šiz friz”. Savremena’s students presented themselves as hairdressers, once again showcasing their creativity. And they did it brilliantly.

Wednesday, 17 June – pancakes in the Adventure Park and a visit to the “Kraljevi konaci” resort

On the fourth day of the school trip at Zlatibor, the students visited the “Farma” ranch where they played with animals, had a great time and ate pancakes at the Adventure Park, and visited the wonderful “Kraljevi konaci” resort. In the evening, they enjoyed a great party called “Just Dance”.

The students enjoyed many activities: visiting the large estate with 25 horses, four ponies and many other animals, walking along the theme parks, having a break at one of the many beautiful playgrounds, enjoying the beauties of Zlatibor and, of course, the sweet treats.

Even after such a challenging but exciting day, the students had enough energy to showcase their dancing potential during the “Just Dance” party in the evening. The idea behind the party was for the boys and girls to compete in dance choreography, but it didn’t matter at all who won, as everyone had a great time.

Thursday, 18 June – conquering Čigota and a fantastic fancy dress party!

On the fifth day of the school trip, charged with positive energy and laughter, Savremena’s students strolled towards Čigota, Zlatibor’s third highest peak.

The little ones and their teachers walked along the 1,600-meter long Kamalj path, perfect for school-age children. They enjoyed the fresh air and walking along the dirt road. The students were absolutely delighted to have conquered the peak, which was no small accomplishment.

After lunch, they played on the sports courts and took part in a fancy dress party in the evening.

This was so much fun. Princesses, fairies, superheroes, doctors and other characters all gathered in one place thanks to the imagination and creativity of Savremena’s primary students.

Friday, 19 June – train ride and panoramic sightseeing at Zlatibor

Savremena’s primary students have been enjoying their school trip for six days. They are having a great time, socialising and learning, which is why this Friday their knowledge on Zlatibor was put to the test, to see how much they paid attention during lessons in the big green classroom…

Šetnja kroz Zlatibor

Before taking part in the quiz in the evening, the students had a walk around the centre of Zlatbor where they bought souvenirs and gifts for their mums and dads, sisters and brothers, and their grandparents, to remind them of this wonderful and unforgettable journey.

Afterwards, they enjoyed a train ride and panoramic sightseeing of Zlatibor. This was followed by preparations for the quiz in which Savremena’s students once again showed that learning through play is efficient and yields great results.

Saturday, 20 June – “Games Without Borders” and a pyjama party

Igre bez granica

During the seven-day stay at Zlatibor, Savremena’s primary students had so many activities that they had the impression the school trip lasted much longer…On the other hand, it was so great, fun, creative and interesting that time flew by so quickly and they are coming back home tomorrow.

A light stroll to the Karaula village was just an introduction to the “Games Without Borders”, where the students competed in tug of war and other unusual games and races, after which they drove bumper cars in the amusement park and enjoyed pizza and ice cream.

After returning to the hotel, the students received diplomas for a successfully completed school trip and had a big surprise –  a pyjama party, which was a fantastic way to end an unforgettable journey Savremena’s students will talk about for a long time.
