“Willkommen 2021” takes off at Primary School Savremena

First round of prestigious foreign language competition held in our classrooms

“Willkommen 2021”, the ninth international foreign language competition in this series, has officially started at Savremena’s premises. At the previous competition, our students have achieved quite stellar results, facing fierce competition, so we are sure that this year’s first round will not present much of an obstacle and that we will soon be able to report another batch of great results and a clear route to the next phase of the competition.

Another year marked by language competitions promises new notable achievements. Mentored by teachers Melanija Savić and Danica Colnarić, Savremena’s students are, as always, seriously preparing for this sort of challenge. Look no further than the excellent results achieved at the eighth international foreign language competition in this series, “Willkommen 2020”.

OUR STUDENTS – STARS OF LAST YEAR’S COMPETITION

Our student Lilita Milčić (VI-1) finished first in the first two rounds in the English language competition, while her classmate Aleksa Rikić triumphed in the French one.

These amazing students are Savremena’s great pride and joy. We are sure that many of their friends will follow in their footsteps this year. Remember: last year, Savremena’s students had a total score of over 85%. There were 18 of them, competing in English, German and French, with results ranging between 85% and a full 100%.

With a lot of practice, diligence and excellent mentorship, it is reasonable to look forward to further medals this year.

SAVREMENA AS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION’S PARTNER

The international foreign language competition “Willkommen” has been popularising foreign language learning at primary and secondary schools for years. In addition to most aspects of the competition that are conducted via the “Willkommen” online platform, selected schools, including ours, have become a part of this international project not only as competitors but also – as partners.

We are glad to be able to inform you that we have the honour of organising the first round of the competition in our own classrooms, observing the norms and regulations required by the official competition programme.

Students eligible for this competition include students from schools where English is taught as the first foreign language (grades three, four, five, six, seven and eight), schools where German is taught as the second foreign language (grades five, six, seven and eight), as well as schools that teach French as the second foreign language (also grades five through eight).

In order to participate, the students need to take qualification tests for each grade. The tests for the first round comprise three parts: reading comprehension, conversation and writing. The test for the final round will comprise four segments: listening and reading comprehension, writing, and conversation.

Secondary school students also compete at “Willkommen”.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for all participants and we cannot wait for the results!
