We celebrated the school’s Saint’s Day in Savremena

ST. SAVA CELEBRATION IN THE SPIRIT OF TRADITION AND TOGETHERNESS

The students of Savremena celebrated the school’s Saint’s Day, St. Sava. This day was a non-teaching day, and the students, together with their teachers, parents and a priest, with a Saint’s Day cake and wine, celebrated this holiday in the school premises and thus paid tribute to the greatest Serbian educator!

The students of lower grades had the greatest role in the performance and they delighted the audience with their talent, songs, recitations and skits about St. Sava.

Among the older students, some particularly stood out – Ema Nikolić, who recited verses by Vojislav Ilić, followed by Rastko Nešovanović, Uroš Đukić and Vuk Nedimović who recited verses by Matija Bećković, our well-known academician. Seventh-grade student Aleksandra Mamuzić also contributed to the overall atmosphere with her charm and talent for reciting poetry. The programme included fifth-grade students as well, who presented an excerpt from Mihajlo Pupin’s biography, “From a pasture to a scientist”, which talked about Pupin’s experience of St. Sava celebrations in his hometown Idvor.

The fourth-grade students, who together with their parents were the hosts of the event, also participated in the consecration ceremony of the festive cake, along with the priest. We especially thank them!

The celebration of St. Sava is always a good opportunity for our students, by participating in the event, to combine their knowledge of literature, history and Serbian culture in general.
