Unusual exhibition about musical instruments from the past

The little ones took part in an educational project about prehistoric musical instruments

Savremena’s students often learn about history or art through unusual activities. The latest project meant going back through centuries in order to discover the musical past of our ancestors.

The eTwinning project about prehistoric music also required the children to illustrate the instruments they were learning about.

Some of the illustrations depicted the locations in which prehistoric people lived, while others focused on our ancestors’ migrations. It turned out that the flute was one of the oldest preserved instruments, which people used for communication and artistic expression.

In prehistoric times, music was primarily a means of communication and an important part of rituals. It was an indispensable segment in the lives of prehistoric people. They believed that music is a means to satisfy deities and each piece of music was accompanied by a ritual dance.

ETWINNING – A GREAT TOOL FOR CREATIVE EXPRESSION

The www.eTwinning.net portal is a creative place that helps students and teachers implement different educational projects together. It is also a vehicle for cooperation with colleagues around Europe, and a professional development platform for teachers from pre-school to secondary school. This cooperation and shared projects entail the use of IT, the Internet, Web 2.0 tools, and the English language.

The eTwinning project in which Savremena is taking part refers to learning about tradition through food and symbols. Among other things, the students learn about a country and its traditions by preparing food that’s typically served on holidays. By making videos on this topic, students can present traditional food and exchange perspectives with friends from different countries.

SIMILAR PROJECTS IN SAVREMENA’S CLUBS

Music and general knowledge are thoroughly covered at the school, particularly through clubs. “The Best Voicеs of Savremena” is a club that enables students who like to sing and play to develop their talents and gain music skills. Folklore contributes to the students’ holistic development. It strengthens muscle tone and stamina, raises energy levels, and develops character.

The Culturology club introduces students to the oldest and most important cultures around the world, starting with Serbian culture. In addition to respecting diversity, important aspects of this club include foreign languages, important holidays, traditional garments, and religion. Of course, music also has an important place in this club. For the purpose of absorbing this knowledge in an efficient and creative manner, students in different clubs work together, which results in unusual interdisciplinary projects.
