The triumph of Savremena’s Year 5 and Year 6 students at the municipal competition in athletics

Through sportsmanship and fair play to new success

We all know that athletics is widely known as the queen of sports, and Savremena primary students confirmed this by making us proud. They showed the spectators what physical and mental strength is, and how to fight for victory in a brave and fair manner.

Yesterday at the OFK stadium, a contest in athletics was held for students from Year 5 to Year 8. Savremena primary students were brilliant, which we did not doubt even for a second, and took the winning places:

  • Jovan Čović, class VI-1, won the first place in the category of shot put (3kg);
  • Mika Domanović, class V-1, won the second place in the category of long jump;
  • Mia Milošević, class VII-2, won the third place in the category of shot put (2kg).

Being the top-ranked student, Jovan Čović won the chance to take part in the city contest that will take place next Friday. His friends and teachers will cheer for him as fiercely as before, since Savremena devotes a lot of attention to children’s development of a healthy spirit and body.

By exercising regularly, the young ones become physically stronger, faster and more dexterous, they push the boundaries of endurance and, most importantly, they develop mentally and become brave, decisive and persistent.

The word athletics derives from the ancient Greek word athlētēs, which means “fighter in public games”. Take a look at Savremena’s fighters, and see how they spent this sunny Thursday:
