Sshhh…we're programming noise!

An interesting project in Robotics and Digital Literacy for students of Savremena

Have you heard of sonometers?
Students of Primary School Savremena participated in a very interesting project in Robotics and Digital Literacy. They faced a challenging task – they had to programme the micro:bit with precisely defined tasks in a specific time interval, that is, they had the task of producing a melody that was not allowed to exceed high tones, nor the volume itself.

This task may seem easy to some because, in addition to programming skills, it also improves problem-solving and time-management skills, so we had to make it more challenging for our students. If one of the students exceeded the permitted pitch, the sonometer would show a red signal, and everything they’ve done up to then would be cancelled and the whole class would be back at square one!

In this way, the students also developed teamwork skills, and we were proud of them because they showed dexterity, knowledge, teamwork, and competitive spirit. They built character by working under pressure and in different conditions, which significantly added to their excitement when they all completed the task together.

There is nothing better than when we learn with a smile, when we grow and improve every day, surprising ourselves with positive results – that’s why this project was truly different.
