Second Savremena Sports Games at our school

Team spirit, cheering and love for sports marked this day

Doing sports from an early age positively affects children’s confidence. Savremena primary students regularly participate in sports activities and, by achieving success, they push the boundaries of their abilities and become braver and prouder of themselves. Inside a team they develop empathy, learn how to be disciplined, how to deal with defeat and how to respect their opponents.

During the School Sport Week, the second Savremena Sports Games were held on Monday. The children had fun and showed their skills through the following sports activities:

  • 100-metre dash;
  • Running around the school;
  • Relay;
  • Shot put;
  • Basketball obstacle course;
  • Football obstacle course;
  • Agility obstacle course.

We had a chance to see how talented Savremena primary students are. They achieved incredible results, dexterity, capability and love for sports. We believe that there are future successful athletes among them and, more importantly, that they are quality people who know how to accept defeat and root for their friends.

There were smiles all around, and the peak of excitement was when the winners were announced. The most successful ones were given trophies, while all participants together received a much more valuable award – spending time with their friends and having fun.

BENEFITS OF DOING SPORTS

At Savremena we regularly hold tournaments and similar activities since doing sports, besides better physical and mental health, brings numerous benefits to the children, such as:

Developing creativity – By creating sports strategies that will bring them victory is very important for children because they learn how to think quickly and creatively and how to solve problems in real time.

Developing character – By means of sports, children build and develop their own personality. They are ready for a fair and dignified competition, and are ready to accept both victory and defeat.

Building self-confidence – Once they overcome themselves, i.e. break a record or win, children are praised by their loved ones and they receive awards, which largely contributes to their self-confidence. Little ones learn how to believe in themselves and become braver and eager for new victories.

Developing team spirit and taking responsibility – A team can only be successful if all members are synchronized, ready for cooperation and responsible. When it comes to team sports, one person will always be the captain, which can develop into the role of a leader later in life. Children who are chosen to be captains develop responsibility and ability to coordinate a larger group of people.
