Savremena’s students visit news station Al Jazeera Balkans as part of “Parents at Work” project
We learned what it’s like to work in television
The “Parents at Work” project was initiated in order for the children to receive first-hand information about different professions, industries and private businesses, see the options that will be open to them when they finish school, and understand the importance and applicability of education.
Last week, Savremena’s students visited the workplace of student Luka Odobašić’s mother, the Al Jazeera Balkans news station. His mother, Ivana Momčilović Odobašić, was their host, and introduced them to interesting aspects and challenges of working at a media company.
The students enjoyed it and, thanks to Ivana, made the most of the great opportunity to learn what the profession of a journalist and real work environment of a news station are like.
During the visit, the students saw what their future professional life can look like if they decide upon journalism, how they can apply what they learn at school in the real world, how education helps them make the best choices about their future, what it’s like to be a grown-up and how much effort their parents put into making their childhood safe and beautiful.
It was an amazing day when the children peeked into the grown-up world; who knows how many future successful reporters, hosts, camera operators, producers, technicians, editors and TV entrepreneurs are among the ranks of the current generation of students?
Savremena prepares children for the real world
Through the entire curriculum, we strive to make a firm connection between education and real economy. That it is the only way to ensure that our students receive applicable knowledge and understand the full importance of what they learn at school.
The possibility to peek into their parents’ offices brings along a very positive experience for each child. We look forward to future visits!
