SAVREMENA’S STUDENTS PLAY GAMES WITHOUT BORDERS WITH THEIR PARENTS

What made a school day unique at Primary School Savremena? Instead of attending regular extracurricular activities in the afternoon, the students spent a warm October day in the schoolyard with their parents and teachers. The teachers surprised the students by inviting their parents to play games without borders!

We were in the schoolyard; the teacher was showing us basketball moves when my dad appeared! I was extremely happy when I realised he would stay and play with us!

This was yet another opportunity for the parents to share a school experience with their children and experience Savremena’s magic together. They played carefully designed games in pairs, including: relay games, the ball in motion, traditional games, field games, table tennis, pool, and so on.

THE BALL IN MOTION! ALL GAMES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE STABILITY AND BALANCE

n the spacious schoolyard, the blue, green, red and yellow teams played well-known games, after which they used a ping-pong ball to practise balance and speed. They raced while carrying the ball in a spoon from one end of the court to the other, showcasing their ability by not dropping the ball once. They carried the ball all the way to the ping-pong table. The students had no problem learning the rules of table tennis, and shared their delight with their parents:

I love table tennis and I’m happy that we’re playing it at school today! My mum taught me the rules; I will practise every day and become a professional!

The students also showed their competitive spirit in a game of passing the ball overhead, between the legs and on the side, in which they competed with their parents. The primary students won; however, whether they were quicker or the parents let them win, remains a secret.

FOCUSED AND AMBITIOUS – SAVREMENA’S PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS LEARNT HOW TO PLAY POOL

Since the students and the parents were still full of energy after the field games, the students decided to play pool. The parents taught them how to use the cue and play the game which develops precision, assessment, strength and motor skills.

WE’RE A SYNCHRONISED TEAM AND WE KNOW ALL ABOUT FAIR PLAY!

In addition to learning the rules, practising precision and developing a competitive spirit, the students also learnt about fair play from their parents. Savremena’s primary school students learn new skills every day. This time, they learnt an important lesson – how to share knowledge and foster team spirit, as it is essential that every player leave the sports ground happy.

DELIGHTED PARENTS SHOWED WHY THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE SCHOOL AND THE PARENTS MATTERS

The parents are Savremena’s friends and partners. Together with their children, they actively participate in school life, as they proved on this day:

The afternoon we spent with the children at the school was wonderful! I am glad that Savremena organises such events and that we constantly participate in our children’s school life.
