Savremena's snowboarder Teodora Vujović receives award for outstanding results in sport

Ski Association of Serbia awards cup to third grader

We are proud of Teodora yet again! Savremena’s great third-grader has received an award for her snowboarding achievements. The award ceremony for Teodora and several other promising young sportspersons was held on Zlatibor. It was a true celebration of sport and a weekend of pride for anyone who knows Teodora Vujović.

CELEBRATION ON ZLATIBOR AND IN III-1

At the threshold of the summer, winter sports lovers gathered on Zlatibor last weekend. The best skiers, snowboarders and Nordic skiers received awards at King’s Square. The best sportspersons were awarded for all their victories – from the children who have just started competing to professionals.

Among them was our Teodora, who won as many as four medals at the snowboarding competition held early this year on Kopaonik: two silvers (in slalom and giant slalom) and two bronzes (in jumps).

Her outstanding snowboarding achievements showcase Teodora’s generous talents and define her as a great hope of Serbian sport.

The entire III-1 is celebrating, proud of their friend!

Bravo!

SNOWBOARDING – POPULAR AND ATTRACTIVE WINTER SPORT

In the beginning, being a snowboarder is demanding, but when one masters the fundamentals, snowboarding becomes pure pleasure. Visually, freestyle is the most attractive style, as it focusses on jumps, tricks and other acrobatics, mostly performed in the popular halfpipe. This style is quite similar to skateboarding, except that it requires snow. Another popular style is freeriding: as its name suggests, it allows much freedom in riding the board.

Freeriders prefer the full mountain experience: open field, virgin snow, wild tracks. The third style – freecarving – focusses on racing and carving – i.e. quick turns using the sidecut of the board. This riding style, sometimes also called Alpine snowboarding, is performed on carefully designed tracks with obstacles and focusses on the boarder’s technical prowess. Many people are attracted to snowboarding because it has quite a few similarities with surfing, while the main thing connecting it to skiing is – snow.

This gathering of the Ski Association of Serbia was an opportunity to point out the importance of winter sports and the rising interest in skiing and other winter sports among children and young people. Teodora, thank you for making us shine again!
