``SAVREMENA AT YOUR HOME” FROM THE STUDENTS' PERSPECTIVE: THIS IS WHY THIRD-GRADERS LOVE DISTANCE LEARNING

Hajdi Gajić from class III-1 explained why her school is so lovely and what she misses the most. Here is her essay.

A DAY IN ISOLATION

These days, our lives are suddenly different. We cannot do the things we usually do; go for walks, do activities, or even go to school! It’s really strange.

However, my school has the option where my teacher is taping the lessons for us to watch at home. Instead of going to school, the school is coming to us! Isn’t that lovely?
I wake up and then the lessons begin. I sometimes watch the live stream, while other times I visit the archive during the day. My teacher is really dedicated and I feel like I’m at school and not missing anything. I even do the homework with the teachers because they record it, too. In my spare time, I turn on our Classroom and play quizzes with my schoolmates.

I really miss my friends and my teacher. But I know this will be over soon and until then, we will spend time together like this.

“I LIKE THIS TYPE OF LEARNING, BUT I MISS MY TEACHERS AND MY FRIENDS – OUR HOLY 3”

Mihajlo Rodić, Hajdi’s classmate, had similar impressions regarding learning from home. This is his essay.

A DAY IN ISOLATION

March 2020 is the month when I had to stop attending school due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When they told us we would not go to school, I wondered how we were going to learn. My Primary School Savremena found a solution. Through the DL Platform, I watch teacher Mirjana Ilić’s lessons on my laptop every day. It was unusual at first, because I missed my classroom and my friends. However, I’ve now got used to this type of learning. After breakfast, I get to my room and log on to the DL Platform. Then I wait for the live class. Sometimes, I don’t watch the lessons in real time, but visit the Live-Class archive. Then I can watch the lessons I missed and revise Serbian, maths, social studies and English. Once I had a 20-minute maths test. I’m glad I can see and hear my teacher.

She is a wonderful teacher and I write down everything she says. If I miss something, I can go back and pause the lecture. When I finish my obligations for the day, my mum takes of a picture of my work and sends it to the teacher. I really like this kind of learning, but I miss my classmates, our “HOLY 3”. I also miss my teacher, as well as teacher Dragoljub, teacher Melanija and everyone else who works at the school.
I hope the situation with the virus will end soon and that we will go back to school. Until then, I will work hard with the help from my SAVREMENA.

FROM THE PARENTS’ PERSPECTIVE: “SAVREMENA HAS DONE ITS HOMEWORK PERFECTLY”

Mihajlo’s mum Sandra also wrote to us. Here are her words.

Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented circumstances that have affected not just our country, but the entire world, we are forced to remain isolated in our homes. Both the children and the parents quickly adjusted to the newly created situation.

Apart from the children’s health, the parents worried about how they would complete the second term. Primary School Savremena has lived up to the task. Distance learning is a novelty not only for the students and parents, but for many teachers as well.

Every day, I check my child’s work, whether he has done his homework and understood everything. The DL Platform is an excellent method for online learning, as it allows you to follow lessons in real time, pause the videos, watch them later and so on. The options are manifold. We are truly lucky that Mihajlo’s teacher is so patient and full of understanding when clearing any misunderstandings we might have. I also have to mention the Classroom, where teacher Dragoljub helps the children with their homework in an interesting manner and conducts excellent experiments.

I have nothing but praise for the teachers and the entire team at Primary School Savremena. With them, a day in isolation goes by quickly.

In the following days, we will bring you more student feedback in the segment #savremenaatyourhome. Stay healthy!
