Older primary school students on the way to discover natural beauty and rich national culture

Excursion for older primary school students filled with educational content and exciting experiences

On this year’s three-day autumn excursion, students of Primary School Savremena had the opportunity to show their adventurous and investigative spirit, but also to learn a lot about the rich national cultural heritage.

On the first day of the excursion, the students visited the Adventure Park “Curioso” near Subotica. Since the park is divided into four thematic units, the students’ attention was mostly occupied by horse riding and shooting targets with a bow and arrow. Some of our students are already practising horse riding, so now they had the opportunity to show their skills in front of their friends. Some also enjoyed the trampoline, and for those who were a little braver, the carriage ride was a real challenge.

In addition to taking a walk on Lake Palić and enjoying the wonderful scenery, the students took the best out of the good weather and vast land to play volleyball and other ball games. They spent the evening hours on a city walk in Subotica and had a wonderful lecture about the Subotica Art Nouveau in the City Hall.

On the second day of the excursion, they enjoyed the wonderful scenery of the Danube from the Petrovaradin Fortress, and they spent their free time exploring the city streets and the Danube Park.

They improved and refreshed their knowledge of biology at the great Natural History Museum in Novi Sad. Aleksandar Perić, a biology teacher, presented interesting facts about extinct species, whose restored parts we had the opportunity to see.

On the third day of the excursion, we visited Sremski Karlovci, where the students were thrilled the most by the famous Karlovac Grammar School. Melanija Savić, an English teacher, talked to the students and the tour guide about the possibilities of learning foreign languages in this school and emphasised the importance of philological sciences in education. Serbian language teachers used the opportunity to remind the students at this place about the life and work of our famous poet Branko Radičević, so we recalled the verses of the poems “Đački rastanak” and “Stražilovo”.

We spent the afternoon in the Krušedol monastery, where we were presented with the history of this monastery of Fruška gora.

Apart from these mostly educational visits, the students spent two evenings in discotheques, where they spent time together and had a good time while listening to current pop and rock music.

At Savremena, we always pay special attention to making learning a comprehensive experience in accordance with the complete development of children. Thus, learning with us often includes play and fun, because we want to preserve the natural, curious, childlike spirit of our students.
