As part of the compulsory physical activities and the School Sport Week, Primary School Savremena organised the first Savremena Sports Games on Thursday, 22 October. The contestants were students in Years 5, 6 and 7, and the athleticism and skill they demonstrated, as well as the results they achieved indicate we have some genuine, future sports stars among us.

Students volunteered for the tournament in large numbers. They were given their kits and assigned according to the sport they applied for. The tournament could start!

Here is a list of activities in the tournament:

• Ping-pong – Tournament was held in the school lobby;
• Cross-country race – Race started in the school parking lot, and the finish line was behind the bleachers;
• Basketball – Matches were played on special courts erected on the school’s sporting facilities;
• Football – Special courts were also erected for this occasion.

Associated events included tennis, badminton and volleyball, and they could be enjoyed by all students who did not compete in the tournament. Winners were in for a surprise at the end of the competition – they received medals. But, we believe that the sporting spirit and sheer excitement of competing with one’s classmates was the best reward for all contestants.
