Fifth-grader brings gold medal from StemCo spring competition to Savremena

With children like these, the future of science is secure

Savremena is aware of the importance of STEM education, and makes sure all students can try their hand at international StemCo mathematics, biology, chemistry or physics competitions. In this year’s mathematics competition, a student from Savremena demonstrated amazing knowledge and won the first prize.

StemCo competitions were created with the objective of inspiring students to discover and develop competencies that will be useful to them in the future. All questions are designed with the emphasis on the understanding and application of fundamental concepts and on analytical thinking rather than mere memorising of information or facts.

A great number of students applied to compete in maths, chemistry, biology and physics, which enabled them to assess and advance their knowledge and skills.

Each competition consists of 40 problems supposed to be solved by students in two hours. Although they could use the Internet, books and all other resources – they could reach the correct solutions only thanks to their knowledge and problem solving skills.

Savremena’s students are up to biggest challenges

Savremena’s representative was the fifth-grade student Feisal Al Abed, who was brilliant in his category and received the Gold Award!

One ought to bear in mind the fierce competition at an international competition of this kind, as well as the fact that the actual criteria primarily concern problem-solving skills, and remember – the language of the competition is English.

None of these things, nor the fact that the number of points was decreasing as the time was running out, could stop our students from showing that Savremena’s students are willing to face the biggest challenges through a valiant battle toward success.

We congratulate our student on extraordinary knowledge and abilities! Results like these keep assuring us that the future of science is secure!
