Constituting the Students’ Parliament

Promoting an intergenerational cooperation in Savremena

By taking part in the operations of the Students’ Parliament, Savremena primary students learn about the freedom of speech, appreciation, respect, and acceptance of different attitudes and opinions. The Parliament’s primary role is to develop a relationship full of respect among students, teachers, and school authorities. Another goal is to encourage children to come up with different activities and projects and to inspire their self-initiative, which will further affect their independence.

WE HAVE CHOSEN THE PARLIAMENT REPRESENTATIVES

In September, 7th and 8th grade students chose their representatives for the Students’ Parliament, and they are:

  • VII-1: Filip Perišić, Iva Vuletić;
  • VII-2: Andrej Bovduj, Vera Stamenković;
  •  VIII-1: Luka Jovanović, Petra Drezgić.

During the first meeting with the coordinator, which also welcomed Katarina Mladenović, the school psychologist, the following functions were appointed: president (Andrej), vice president (Luka), and note taker (Vera).

Students were briefly informed about the objectives and responsibilities of the Students’ Parliament, and that they, being class representatives, have been chosen to transfer information to their peers and invite them to participate in school activities together.

There were lots of good ideas when it comes to student activities for the first semester – from decorating classrooms for Halloween, over taking part in fundraisers, all over to the New Year’s bazaar.

In the following seven days, the members’ task will be to shape these ideas so as to adopt the Parliament agenda.

We have no doubts that Savremena primary students will live up to our expectations, since they are primarily responsible children who are well-aware of their abilities and are ready to accept different opinions, to tolerate, and to hold argumentative discussions.
