8 March as inspiration for creative works and gifts

Savremena’s classes created gifts with touching messages

Our youngest students often surprise and delight us with their ideas, manners, and art, and on 8 March, they proved themselves true gentlemen and ladies.

Their works were colourful, filled with energy and joy, and dedicated to special women in their lives.

8 March is celebrated around the world in commemoration of women’s rights and status, and the custom here is to give flowers and small gifts to women. In the days before 8 March, our students started choosing materials and brainstorming on what gifts to make and for whom.

Our culinary club realised a wonderful activity designed in advance. A group of first-graders baked delicious cookies using flower-shaped molds. Then they used sticks to make stems, thus creating lovely flowers for 8 March. Like true professionals, they wrapped the flowers in cellophane and tied them with beige ribbons. They even added little cards that read: “Happy holiday! Your chefs”.

In addition, Savremena’s students created other, decorative bouquets using sponge and paper, for example, heart-shaped bouquets on a stick decorated with colourful flowers and butterflies. Other works looked like paintings, and some even made bouquets using real flowers and added chocolates.
Students’ mums, teachers, the Principal and female classmates got handmade gifts and couldn’t hide their delight.

PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE AND MUTUAL RESPECT

The little gentlemen demonstrated their creativity, admiration and respect for women, whereas their female classmates gave beautiful little gifts to each other, and of course, to their mothers. Our little community expressed their love in the best way possible, so whenever the kids met their female teachers, the Principal, school counsellor or psychologist, or their female friends, they would proudly greet them with: “Happy 8 March!”, stirring everyone’s emotion and making their day unforgettable.

Everyone felt important and appreciated on that 8 March, and it was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge, manners and creativity, but also to learn why this holiday is important (and it is). This was also a way for students to experience school as their second home, i.e. to make sure that it is.
