We’re celebrating the school Slava with a St Sava Day message
Savremena’s students celebrated the school slava and sent a St Sava day message
In accordance with the school calendar, Primary School Savremena celebrated the school Slava, St Sava Day, on 27 January 2021. The day, on which there were no lessons, was dedicated to Rastko Nemanjić – St Sava – the enlightener and father of Serbian education, patron of Serbian schools, and the person who set the spiritual and legal foundation of the Serbian state.
The students visited St Sava Church and its crypt, and sent a St Sava Day message.
Savremena’s students visited St Sava Church and sent music messages for St Sava Day to their parents. Previously, the Religious Studies teacher and the Principal took the Slava bread to St Demetrius Church for the sanctification ceremony, after which the students and teachers treated themselves to the traditional Slava wheat.
On 26 January, the school started celebrating St Sava Days with a series of activities, and the St Sava Day celebration was the main event.
The students’ St Sava Day message recorded ahead of the school Slava, an emotional choir performance about St Sava, testifies to the great talent of Savremena’s students. The school Slava is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the founder of the education system in Serbia. Moreover, it’s a chance to express one’s talent through writing, song and interaction. Let the school Slava be an occasion for love and understanding.
DONATING SCHOOL SUPPLIES IN A CHARITY EVENT
In order to spend St Sava Days in the spirit of sharing and unity, Primary School Savremena organised an internal charity event of collecting school supplies and books for the “Saint Sava” primary school from Bačina, municipality of Varvarin.
The students from this school don’t have the resources their peers have, which makes learning more difficult. Let’s support them together! Please contact your children’s teachers for more information about the school supply donations.
You can’t put a price to an education that enriches the spirit.
