WE ARE PREPARING FOR THE SCHOOL “SLAVA” THROUGH PROJECT-BASED LEARNING (PBL)

The New Year’s and Christmas holidays, which the students spent with their parents, are behind us. Now the time has come for a holiday marked together with schoolmates. Of course, we’re referring to Saint Sava’s Day, the school “Slava” celebrated on Monday, 27 January.

On Thursday, 23 January. Year 1 and Year 2 students had their final project-based lesson entitled “Towards the school Slava”. The children socialised, learnt about the first Serbian teacher and enlightener, while familiarising themselves with the customs related to this great and significant holiday.

MUMS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

Together with their teacher Branka Đurović, and accompanied by their mums who were of great assistance, the students from class I-1 prepared the Slava bread and wheat, and read the prayer.

The students’ mothers listened to their little ones reciting and singing songs in praise of St Sava and explaining to each other the “Slava” customs. Finally, everyone awaits the school celebration with laughter and joy. Saint Sava’s Day will be marked on 27 January at Primary School Savremena with a students’ performance to which all the parents are invited.

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING – ENTERTAINMENT THAT YIELDS RESULTS

This type of teaching is not a one-off project at Primary School Savremena; PBL has been applied in our school’s education system since day one.
The goal of PBL at Savremena is to develop the students’ functional knowledge through specific situations presented in class and in workshops. Experience has shown that PBL yields excellent results, which is evident in all years at Primary School Savremena.
