Visiting kindergartens: Your school is awesome!
Preschoolers visited Savremena
Children from Belgrade kindergartens “Bubamara” and “Srećkolino” visited Savremena and were introduced to educational and fun content.
Lively preschoolers had fun discovering numerous technological advancements used at Savremena. During their visit, they had a unique opportunity to hang out with robots, try out interactive applications, familiarise themselves with interesting landscapes by means of virtual reality, assemble a mini hydroelectric power plant in the LEGO STEAM laboratory, partake in various sports games and dance in motor development play spaces.
Day filled with educational entertainment
The day spent with our young guests passed in a great mood and various educational and fun activities. The kids were thrilled to be able to assemble puzzles on a tablet so as to control cartoon characters, play quizzes which allowed them to showcase their knowledge of fairy tales and cartoons, and control an animated Awbie in his adventures using Lego-like blocks.
“I enjoyed moving the blocks, and then Awbie tickled a whale with a feather”, this is how one of our young visitors described his first steps in programming.
However, the absolute favourites of the kids were robots, Alpha Pro and Sphero, or “whitey” and “ball” as the kids nicknamed them:
“I liked the balls we controlled and the white robot the most”, said a smiling six-year-old girl.
Our guests from Belgrade kindergartens played with the cute robots in the training room, gave them commands, had them do push-ups and compete in dance.
“I liked the white robot that can do push-ups, dance and move the best. Everything here is so great!”
Journey through virtual worlds
The Simple Lego Machine Set allowed children to play with one of their favourite toys – LEGO bricks. This time, preschoolers assembled slightly different objects than usual, but they had great fun nonetheless: gears, hydraulic machines, and mini hydroelectric power plants, thus acquiring knowledge of engineering.
“My favourite was a rotating circle that moves the crane which we made from LEGO bricks”, is a proud description of their first engineering endeavour.
Children also enjoyed sailing the high seas and a stroll along the Great Wall of China with the help of virtual technology, learning about distant worlds and different cultures.
Teachers had a great time too
It wasn’t just the little ones who enjoyed the fun activities. Their teachers participated as well and had a great time. They all agree the teaching concept, premises and modern equipment available at Savremena are something they’ve never experienced before, and that they provide great opportunities for the education of children.
“I think your school has a very engaging and age-appropriate educational content for children, which allows them to keep up with the modern age and acquire the knowledge for the 21st century. Our preschoolers are already familiar with the modern technologies and handle them very skilfully. However, they discovered a new dimension of technology here – creativity and inventiveness, which, I believe, is very important, because they learn how to use new gadgets constructively rather than kill time with them”, said Milica Jakovljević, preschool teacher with extensive experience.
What is especially important for preschool teachers is the fact that teaching, although based on the use of modern technologies, is designed to stimulate the overall development of the child, without neglecting any aspect, and this concept is only further augmented by an extensive selection of additional activities and clubs:
“What I liked the most, both as a preschool teacher and as a parent is the fact that all activities children participate in – from modern technologies to sports tournaments – are focused on the comprehensive child development: development of thinking, motor skills and creativity.”
See you again!
At the end of the day, children left our school enraptured, and overjoyed with new experiences. All of us were deeply moved when the little ones exclaimed in unison:
“When can we visit again?”
We smilingly answered our school was always open for them, and they could visit anytime they wanted, and as soon as they grew up a bit, they could enrol at Primary School Savremena.
Eventually, the children shared their experiences on the fun things they did, and the visit ended with a healthy snack, cheerful company and the summing up of impressions.
