The school’s Saint’s Day was marked in the best way

Primary School Savremena celebrated the school’s Saint’s Day, Saint Sav

Primary School Savremena celebrated its school’s Saint’s Day, Saint Sava, on Saturday, 27 January, paying tribute to the first Serbian enlightener and protector of students.

This important day for Serbian culture and education was marked by an exceptional event prepared by the school’s students. The event provided an opportunity for students to show their artistic and creative abilities through recitations, play, and singing, dedicating their performances to the life and work of Saint Sava.

Fourth-grade students as true hosts

The diverse programme included a large and small choir, a recital by younger students, as well as a drama performance by fifth and sixth-grade students.

The space was enriched with students’ artistic works dedicated to Saint Sava, and special attention was drawn to a section on the wall titled “Slatko je znati”, where all visitors could open an envelope and find a quote from the Life of Saint Sava, containing a candy.

Fourth-grade students, who were also the hosts of the event along with their parents, participated in the consecration ceremony of the cake with the priest. We are particularly grateful to them!

Everyone present was impressed by the students' talents and efforts

Bread and wheat, as symbols of wealth and fertility in Serbian tradition, also had their place in the celebration. These elements were presented with appropriate explanations of their significance and symbolism within the context of the Saint’s Day celebration.

The Saint Sava celebration is a good opportunity for our students to unite their knowledge of literature, history, and Serbian culture in general by participating in the event.

The celebration of Saint Sava at Primary School Savremena demonstrated how traditional values and modern education can successfully merge, nurturing cultural heritage and educating the younger generations. The school once again affirmed its commitment to preserving cultural identity and promoting educational values.
