The day we’ve been waiting for has arrived: Primary School Savremena is open

While many children and their teachers feel sad because the summer holidays are over, students, parents and teachers at Savremena are eagerly waiting for the beginning of the new school year.

Finally, after a long wait, that day has come. Even at the reception, it was perfectly clear this is a truly different school:

In addition to teachers, students were welcomed by ballerinas, magicians, ice-skaters, guitarists, and robots.

We went to great lengths to design an entertaining and educational program that will captivate the children and show them they have entered a realm of learning, friendship, and play, and the radiant faces of our little students prove this is truly a school one goes to with a smiling face. Everyone agrees about one thing:

It was worth the wait.

I’ve been grumbling all summer and waiting for the holidays to end so I could start school. I couldn’t wait to step into Savremena so I could see how beautiful it is. But, I didn’t know it was even more awesome than I thought”, said Lazar Bulat, a student at Savremena.

Ceremonious and warm welcome for students and their parents

The Principal of this unique institution, Jasmina Franolić, ceremoniously addressed the students and their parents, wishing everyone the best school year they ever had. This spirited and dedicated woman could not hide her pride and excitement, but above all, her keenness to begin with what she and her team know best: education and care of our children.

To say I was excited would be an understatement. Today, I’m filled with pride and satisfaction, but also responsibility toward students and their parents. Members of the Savremena team are very much in love with their job and can’t wait to start teaching.”

The Principal pointed out the interest for enrolment at Savremena was great, and informed us of the future plans of this institution:

We have ambitious plans, and we are planning to continue the way we started. Many different activities are ahead of us, cooperation with other schools and partners both in Serbia and abroad, participating in all competitions, workshops, integrative and project-based instruction. In other words, we are combining examples of good educational practice from all over the world with the best values from Serbia. Next year, we will enrol the 6th, 7th and 8th grade”, said Principal Jasmina Franolić.

A school for modern generations

Just as the whole approach to education in our school is designed to be student-centered, the reception was also tailored to the needs and interests of our students. In addition to the entertainment program, future students were introduced to their smiling and dedicated teachers, took their seats and received welcome gifts for the beginning of the school year.

The teachers told us what the students could expect during their education at Savremena:

Our primary goal is to make students feel at home here, to come to school relaxed and with a smile on their face. We will strive to discover all their talents and develop their full potential through play and creativity.

The first moments in the new classrooms, meeting new classmates and teachers showed children they could expect exciting adventures, friendships and learning. The students of Savremena were delighted with the ceremonious welcome, and excited about all the nice things awaiting them at our school:

I’m overjoyed for having enrolled here, said Zara Zečević, grinning from ear to ear.

Primary School Savremena uses modern technologies to make the teaching process more accessible and relatable to the modern generations. This is one of the things that children love the most. Milica Trikić couldn’t hide her excitement about the opportunity to use the latest technology and acquire knowledge in a modern way:

I like Savremena because it offers robotics, and that is something I can’t wait to try. Plus, I’ve made new friends here. I’m looking forward to studying and hanging out with them.

Her seat partner agrees:

I like the fact we have robotics and use iPads, and that teachers are more dedicated to their students, which helps us learn more.

Happy, satisfied and well-educated children, proud and motivated parents are the primary goals of Savremena and we will relentlessly work together to fulfil them.

Elated parents

The infectious excitement about the first school day at Savremena was shared by parents. As valuable partners in their children’s education, they felt welcome at our school and had the opportunity to talk about all the topics that interest them with the teachers, and when they saw the content prepared for their children, many among them felt the desire to return to school, at least for a while. Everyone agrees they’ve never seen a school like this and are convinced of one thing:

The first day at Savremena passed in a cheerful, entertaining and educational atmosphere, and representatives of Savremena promise every day will be like that. Students, their parents and teachers were fulfilled and happy because this day marks the beginning of a wonderful and long adventure filled with learning, friendship, smiles and advancement.

Balloons were released, and children’s bustle and hands raised high in the air marked the opening day of this unique school.
