The Brainfinity problem solving competition – a great inspiration for Savremena’s primary students
Teams of students attending Years 5, 6 and 7 compete in solving creative problems
We are pleased to announce that Primary School Savremena will take part in the Brainfinity problem solving competition, where they will use the knowledge gained at school in a real-life environment, meet new friends and win fantastic prizes. Three teams from Primary School Savremena registered for Brainfinity 2021.
The 5th-graders’ team is “link2future”, the 6th-graders’ “BIO LAVV”, while the 7th-graders are called “FENIXI”. We wish them good luck!
Brainfinity is a collaborative problem solving challenge, in which four-member teams comprising elementary school students in years 5 through 8 and high school students use technology to solve interesting problems.
Each team must have a teacher-mentor, whose task is to prepare the teams for this unusual contest in which students adopt the principles of project-based learning by exploring interesting topics.
The competition has 3 stages: Brainfinity problems, Brainfinity challenge and Brainfinity finals
Children love challenges, as they allow them to give their best and advance. This prompted the inventors of Brainfinity to create a unique competition in which kids learn in an interesting way and solve real-life problems. Such a concept renders obsolete the question children often ask when learning math: “How will this help me in life”?”.
Brainfinity has 3 stages: Brainfinity problems, the Brainfinity challenge and the Brainfinity finals. Registration is underway.
On the 25th of each month until February, a Brainfinity problem is posted on the Brainfinity website for the teams to solve by the 15th of the following month. The teams that solve one of the Brainfinity problems qualify for the next stage – the Brainfinity challenge, which takes place in March. The teams have 2 hours to solve 3 tasks online, from any location. The best five teams from each class qualify for the Brainfinity finals, where the teams face new logic challenges at a previously arranged location.
In the first two stages, the students have the freedom to choose the location from which they will work and the technology they will use to solve the problems. In the finals, the students’ communication skills are also tested as they are required to present their answers to renowned jury members.
Much more than a competition: The teams get points for their answers, but also for…
