The “Portrait of Autumn” photo contest, which we have been organising in Savremena for the third time now, resulted in a large number of photographs of exceptional quality. The students had the task to present how they see autumn from their perspective in the most creative way possible using a camera or a smartphone and they completely amazed us with their unique ideas, many of which can be compared to the works of professional photographers.

Our school jury had the difficult task to choose, among a large number of very high-quality photographs, the ones that met all the given criteria and most successfully responded to the topic of the contest. Some of the rules that the students had to comply with were that the photographs should be of high resolution and that they should pay attention to light and shadow, as well as composition and rhythm. It was also a requirement that the photos must be in colour and that the photo must be digital – taken with a camera or phone.

One of the most important goals of education at Savremena is to encourage children to discover and develop their unique talents, which is why all subjects and clubs are equally important to us. It is especially important for us to nurture creativity in children, because we know how important it is for them to preserve the ability to think creatively in every area of life, regardless of the career path they choose.

The “Portrait of Autumn” photo contest showed that our students enjoy creative expression and that they love art. As a season, autumn has always been inspiring, and our students showed us that it has many different faces. Some chose to represent the splendour of autumn colours and nature, while others saw autumn as playful and cheerful. It was the originality and eye for detail in the submitted works that left us breathless.
