Fourth-graders design programs with micro:bits

Young programers of Primary School Savremena

Children find it much easier to embrace new technological trends than adults, and learning to design programs boosts studying mathematics and other natural sciences, but better reading as well. Primary School Savremena fourth grade students , attending the lesson of introduction to programming, combined the knowledge of technical education, technology and robotics, so they had the chance to connect an electric circuit with a motherboard and design a program using micro:bits.

Primary School Savremena is the school where programming is taught from Year 1. The primary school students solve problems, design and move their virtual heroes, create interesting stories, all of these while playing and having fun. Thus, they learn the basics of programming, but also develop their imagination and skills necessary for problem-solving, communication, which contributes to better cognitive and emotional development.

The lessons are designed in such a manner that children’s curiosity is spurred together with the ability to develop computer programs. By using mini-robots and coding blocks, the students develop analytical approach and produce their first interactive works, which they proudly show to their parents.

This time they used micro:bits for programming and connected an electric circuit to a motherboard.

Do have a look at what they have made.
