Students and teachers of Savremena are taking you to a magical journey through language and culture
Recital in the school yard as another creative reminder of World Book Day
In celebration of World Book Day on 23 April, students and teachers wanted to mark this important date appropriately and creatively − with a school recital, i.e. “magical journey” held in the school yard with all students in attendance.
FANTASY, ADVENTURE AND EXPLORATION, OR MAGIC IN ACTION
The youngest students opened the recital with three songs in three languages: Serbian (Devojko mala), English (Memories) and German (Fünf kleine fische), and Year 4 teacher, Mirjana Ilić, helped them prepare for the performance.
The next segment involved performances in three languages: Serbian, English and German. It was a pageant of knowledge and talent.
The thing all these segments had in common was the topic: Fantasy, Adventure and Exploration. Students had the task to find a text that would fit into this narrative. They used J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, Michael Ende’s The Neverending Story, and Vojislav Stanojčić’s Mađioničar (The Magician).
- The following Savremena students participated in the adaptation of the scene from the Harry Potter movie: Lena Lešnjak, Vuk Virić, Vanja Pavlović, Teodora Hodžić, Sara Stojanović and Zara Grujičić, whereas the presentation about the books’ author was prepared by Lena Elezović.
- The drama piece about The Neverending Story was prepared by Iva Vlahović, Mia Milošević, Petra Janev, Lazar Dornik, Aleksa Marković, Lazar Bulat, Marko Vićentijević, Mina Drezgić, Lana Milenković and Una Janković.
- The Magician sketch was performed by Maša Pašić, Bojan Nešić and Mateja Baketarić.
The students were trained and prepared by their Serbian language and foreign languages teachers: Danica Colnarić, Melanija Savić (English), Milica Paunović (German) and Marina Gava (Serbian).
A part of the event was the exhibition of art works prepared in cooperation between students and their art teacher Suzana Vulović. The author of the best works were awarded with diplomas in three categories: best design and illustration, best typography, and best creative solution.
The following students were awarded: Zoe Devetak, Divna Milić, Maša Đuričković, Mina Drezgić, Valentina Vlašković, Zara Grujičić, Natalija Nikolić, Sofija Popovska, Lena Lešnjak and Anastasija Nikolić.
You can watch the video presentation of this event where our students demonstrated their exceptional knowledge of foreign languages and cultures.
We would like to congratulate all participants in this unforgettable event! This video report will remain as a record and a reminder of what can be achieved with the power of culture and camaraderie. A day like this, filled with smiles, new knowledge and friendship is actually just an ordinary day at Savremena.
