Many masterpieces and scientific discoveries came from silly ideas. They start as something crazy, but evolve into things of beauty and wisdom. 

We, therefore, invite the students to share their bravest ideas and take part in the 9th edition of the International Biennale of Artistic Children’s Expression (BUDI) – “LITTLE RASCALS – Great Minds”.

The competition for children aged 5–15 is open until 31 March 2021.

THEME INSPIRED BY PINOCCHIO

The theme of the 9th edition of the BUDI festival, “Little Rascals – Great Minds”, is inspired by the best-known Italian puppet – Pinocchio. Italian journalist  Carlo Collodi sent several short episodes about the wooden puppet to a newspaper editor in Rome. Upon publication in 1881, the Pinocchio stories became children’s favourites and achieved great success.

The stories were later adapted into films, cartoons, plays, books and illustrations, earning worldwide recognition. Like so many artists before them, we’re sure Savremena’s little ones will also find inspiration in this character.

COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Here are the categories in which the students can participate individually or in groups.

• Visual arts: A hunch for good things

Make a drawing, illustration, model, or video

• Film and theatre: A puppet brought to life

Think of a film, play, dance routine or performance

• Literature: Little follies

Write a poem, fairy tale, comic or story

• Ecology/Innovation/Experiment: BE creative

Think of a science-fiction experiment or invention (drawing/video/model) or environmental campaign (idea/presentation/video)

THE COMPETITION IS A SPECIAL SCHOOL PROJECT

Given that the contest is open for both individuals and groups, the teachers are invited to form teams that will be able to create small wonders in various categories.

In the next month, the internal competition aims to inspire imagination, creativity and teamwork among the students.

The children can think of a play, dance routine or film. They can also use their robotics skills in the innovation category and design a draft for digital Pinocchio. Their ideas are endless and their imagination unstoppable.

The students should bear in mind that they are not required to build final products, but design drafts, presentations and the like.

We are sure the little ones will be eager to take part and showcase their creativity. Visual arts, film, theatre, literature, ecology, experiment, innovation – they truly are vast fields in which the students can play and be creative.

ABOUT THE  FESTIVAL

BUDI, Biennale of Artistic Children’s Expression, is an international festival dedicated to children’s creativity and children’s art. The main goals of BUDI are: bringing art and culture closer to children, overcoming the barriers of old-fashioned cultural institutions, encouraging creativity among the youngest, promoting and developing the ability of children in different areas of creativity, connecting and familiarising children with other cultures, as well as supporting the inclusion of marginalised children’s groups.
