Savremena’s students keep medals coming
Rising star of Serbian tennis
The famous statement made by the best tennis player of all time, Novak Đoković, when he was a child, that he is going to become the best in the world, proves that dreams come true when one wholeheartedly wants to succeed and puts real effort into it. Savremena’s eighth-grader Petra Drezgić, whose achievements have been keeping us proud, looks up to Novak Đoković and dreams big dreams of her own. She diligently works on her tennis skills and manages to shine on the court while keeping her academic record excellent. And the medals keep coming.
SAVREMENA PROUDLY SUPPORTS PETRA
Over the last two weekends, Petra won placed second twice at the Belgrade Championship, winning two silvers. The week ahead of us is reserved for the most important tournament of the year – National Tennis Championship for girls under 16. If she passes the first round, Petra will receive points towards the enrolment into the Sports Gymnasium, which is her big wish.
At this championship, she will compete with the nation’s top 36 girls in tennis under 16, along with girls who pass the qualifications, while the successful Petra will “hit the ground running”, starting the competition directly in the first round.
MEET PETRA – SAVREMENA’S SUCCESSFUL STUDENT
Petra is a member of the Đukić Tennis Club. She started playing tennis when she was only six. She likes to say that this sport has been her greatest love and her greatest success thus far and that her biggest wish is to play it professionally.
Sometimes it is very hard to maintain the balance between intensive training and school obligations; thankfully, my understanding teachers are always there to help find a solution. Another important aspect is the organization, as I have a schedule for each week.
Her greatest role model besides Novak is Serena Williams, one of the most successful players of all time – not only because of her achievements in tennis, but also because of the way of life, the fact that she makes her dreams come true and makes them better through hard work, desire and perseverance.
She sees the medals she has won thus far as a result of hard work and a lot of invested effort, and at the same time, a great motivation to invest even more effort, as she sees that hard work surely pays off.
We cannot wait for Petra’s first match at the Serbian National Championship and we are with her all the way on her path to success!
Savremena is always there to support its students. Bravo, dear Petra!
