Savremena’s primary students were faced with a difficult task: to choose their favourite poem written by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj. It’s not easy to choose one poem out of all those they went to sleep with and sang before entering “the big school”. And many of them are still enjoying these poems.

However, after weeks of thinking and voting, the students of Primary School Savremena chose the winner: “Materina maza” (Mama’s Boy).

This timeless tale about a spoilt boy Laza who is always nagging and pestering got more votes than “Žaba čita novine” (A Frog is Reading a Newspaper), “Prolećnica” (Spring Poem), “Ala je lep…” (Oh, What a Beautiful…) and “Pačija škola” (Ducklings’ School).

We would like to thank Savremena’s students for sending us back to childhood with their vote and congratulate them on their excellent choice, although any poem would have been perfect, as Čika Jova Zmaj’s entire oeuvre is pure art.
