A Warm Welcome for First and Fifth Graders at Savremena Primary School

A new beginning, new friendships and the first school adventures

The beginning of a new school year at Savremena Primary School was once again marked by smiles, excitement and the special energy that accompanies every fresh start. On Monday, 31 August, the school warmly opened its doors to first- and fifth-grade students, who, together with their parents, took their first steps towards new learning experiences, friendships and challenges.

For the first graders, this was one of those important days that stays in memory for a long time – their first encounter with the school, classrooms, teachers and classmates with whom they will share everyday experiences, new knowledge and many achievements, both big and small. Supported by their parents and warmly welcomed by the school team, Savremena’s youngest students had an opportunity to discover the environment that will soon become an important part of their growing up.

The fifth graders had an equally exciting beginning. Moving to the upper grades brings a different way of organising classes, new subjects, new teachers and greater responsibilities, as well as many opportunities to explore interests and become more independent.

The welcome ceremony was therefore much more than an introduction to new classrooms and teachers. It marked the beginning of another important chapter, filled with curiosity, learning, creativity, cooperation and memorable moments that students will create together throughout the school year.

First encounters opening the door to new friendships and knowledge

For the first graders, the welcome ceremony was an opportunity to meet the teachers who will guide and support them throughout the important first years of their education. Class I-1 was welcomed by teacher Branka Milićević, while teacher Milica Ranković will accompany the students of I-2 on their learning journey. Teacher Jana Milekić will lead class I-3, while teacher Jasna Jovanović welcomed the students of I-4.

These first encounters were filled with smiles, introductions and excitement. For Savremena’s youngest students, a period now begins in which everyday school life will bring discoveries, questions, creative activities, friendships and the first important steps towards independence. In a safe and encouraging environment, every new day will provide an opportunity to develop curiosity, confidence and a genuine love of learning.

A new chapter also began for the fifth graders, who are entering a different stage of their education as they move into subject-based teaching. During the ceremony, they met the homeroom teachers who will support them throughout this transition. Renata Šimak will lead class V-1, Bojana Bošković will be the homeroom teacher of V-2, while Đorđe Rikić will guide the students of V-3.

New subjects, different teachers and greater challenges lie ahead, but with them come new opportunities for students to discover their interests, strengthen their skills, develop responsibility and continue building friendships that make their school days special.

The beginning of another Savremena school story

The welcome for first and fifth graders took place in a cheerful and festive atmosphere, with the support of parents, teachers, homeroom teachers and the entire Savremena team. The first conversations, introductions and smiles showed just how important these moments are in creating a sense of security, belonging and togetherness from the very beginning of the school year.

A period of exciting discoveries lies ahead for the first graders – from their first school assignments and new knowledge to friendships, joint projects and experiences through which they will gradually learn more about the world around them and about their own abilities. Fifth graders, meanwhile, are continuing their educational journey ready to embrace new challenges, explore different subjects and, with the support of their teachers, become increasingly independent and confident learners.

At Savremena, we believe that every new beginning is an opportunity for growth, development and the creation of memories that last far beyond a single school day. For our new first and fifth graders, 31 August will therefore remain a special date – the day when the doors to a new chapter opened, bringing learning, exploration, friendship and shared achievements.

We wish all first and fifth graders at Savremena Primary School a wonderful start to the new school year, filled with curiosity, smiles, new knowledge and countless reasons to look forward to every new school day.
