Savremena Students Created Their Own Board Game
The board game “Friendship”
When students are given the opportunity to turn their ideas into real projects, initiatives emerge that bring meaningful value to the entire school community. That is exactly how the board game “Friendship” came to life—an original idea created by eighth-grade students with the goal of encouraging stronger connections, collaboration, and deeper understanding among classmates.
During their homeroom class, the eighth graders presented the game they had designed and tested it together with their classmates in a classroom filled with laughter, conversation, and team spirit. From the first idea to the final version, students developed the concept, created the rules, and designed questions that encourage communication, reflection, and connection.
“Friendship” was not created simply as an entertaining activity, but as a thoughtful way to help students get to know one another better, exchange experiences, and strengthen their relationships through shared play. Every square on the board, every question, and every challenge became an opportunity for a new conversation, a new discovery about classmates, and a stronger sense of belonging within the group.
At Savremena, we believe school life is about much more than academic learning. Empathy, communication, mutual understanding, and the ability to build healthy relationships are equally important, and projects like this allow students to develop these values in a meaningful and authentic way.

A Game That Brings Classmates Closer Together
During the homeroom class, the classroom transformed into a space for shared discovery, meaningful conversations, and joyful interaction. Students enthusiastically followed the game’s progress, rolled the dice, moved their pieces, and answered questions that encouraged them to talk about themselves, their experiences, their thoughts, and their relationships with others.
One of the most valuable aspects of this game lies in its simplicity and sincerity. Through carefully designed challenges, students had the opportunity to discover how many shared interests they have, how well they truly know one another, and how important it is to listen, collaborate, and support their peers.
The atmosphere throughout the activity clearly showed how strongly interactive formats like this encourage openness and togetherness, while also demonstrating how much students enjoy being the creators of experiences that benefit the entire group.
Creativity That Builds Community
The greatest value of the “Friendship” project lies not only in the completed game itself, but in the creative process that made it possible. By designing the rules, developing the questions, and shaping the concept, students strengthened their creativity, teamwork, organizational skills, and awareness of their classmates’ needs.
At the same time, the students who participated in the game had the chance to connect in a different way—through conversation, shared problem-solving, and spontaneous moments of joy that help create lasting memories.
At Savremena, we nurture an environment in which students are not only participants in the learning process, but active creators of experiences that enrich the school community. Because when young people are given space to create, collaborate, and share their ideas, remarkable projects with lasting value begin to take shape.
