Savremena Pupils at the City Table Tennis Championship
A sporting challenge gave pupils valuable competitive experience and another opportunity to enjoy an active school life
On Thursday, 1 October, pupils from Savremena Primary School took part in the City Table Tennis Championship, where they had an opportunity to test their skills against peers from other schools.
The competitive atmosphere brought plenty of excitement, concentration and motivation to play every point as well as possible. For Savremena pupils, the event was much more than another sporting competition. It was an opportunity to experience what it means to represent their school at city level, meet other young athletes and put into practice the skills they have developed through training and previous experience.
Table tennis requires quick reactions, precision, good judgement and the ability to remain focused throughout a match. This is why competitions of this kind have value that extends far beyond the final result. Pupils learn how to manage pressure, respond to both successful shots and mistakes, and continue giving their best regardless of how a match develops.
Taking part in the City Championship therefore became another valuable sporting experience for Savremena pupils and another opportunity to grow through challenge, effort and healthy competition.

Sport as an Important Part of Growing Up
At Savremena Primary School, sport plays an important role in pupils’ development, as physical activity, team spirit and healthy competition help children build qualities that are equally valuable beyond the sports hall.
Competitions such as the City Table Tennis Championship encourage perseverance, discipline and independence. Once a pupil steps up to the table, decisions need to be made within seconds, tactics must be adjusted to the opponent and focus has to be maintained even when the score does not develop as expected. Experiences like these help pupils build confidence in their abilities and become more prepared to face new challenges.
Sports competitions also give pupils an opportunity to step outside their everyday school environment and apply values such as fair play, respect and responsible behaviour in real situations. Supporting one another is equally important, as pupils represent not only themselves, but also their classmates and their school.
Through activities of this kind, school life becomes more varied and dynamic. Pupils discover new interests, strengthen healthy habits and gain experiences that remain valuable long after the final point of a match has been played.
Another Experience to Remember
Taking part in the City Table Tennis Championship gave Savremena pupils a chance to spend the day surrounded by sport, test their abilities and experience the special atmosphere of competing against pupils from other schools.
Every point brought a new challenge, while every match offered another opportunity to demonstrate concentration, perseverance and respect for an opponent. These are precisely the values encouraged through school and extracurricular activities at Savremena, where education goes beyond knowledge acquired in the classroom and includes experiences through which children learn more about themselves and others.
Sporting events therefore form an important part of growing up. They teach pupils that success is not measured only by the final score. Effort, discipline, the courage to accept a challenge and the willingness to learn from every experience are just as important.
With their participation in the championship, Savremena pupils continued an active school year filled with sporting opportunities, new encounters and experiences that can help them approach future challenges with even greater confidence and motivation.
