Savremena Primary School at the Oplenac Children’s Festival
A weekend of smiles, new connections and inspiring encounters
The weekend of 12 and 13 September was dedicated to play, friendship, new experiences and memorable encounters in one of Šumadija’s most beautiful settings. The Oplenac Children’s Festival welcomed a large number of children, parents and families, and Savremena Primary School was delighted to take part in this year’s event and introduce visitors to its approach to education and the values on which it builds an inspiring environment for learning and growing.
Throughout the two festival days, Oplenac was filled with children’s laughter, curiosity and positive energy. In this lively atmosphere, the Savremena team had an opportunity to meet numerous families, talk to parents and children and show them what contemporary education can look like when the child, their interests, creativity and natural desire to explore are placed at its very centre.
We especially enjoyed the many spontaneous encounters with visitors who stopped by to meet us, learn more about Savremena Primary School and share their questions, impressions and experiences. These personal conversations made the festival weekend even more meaningful and reminded us how valuable opportunities to connect schools, children and parents can be in creating a community where ideas, experiences and enthusiasm for learning are shared openly and with a smile.

When education is introduced through conversation and a smile
With its cheerful spirit, natural surroundings and diverse programme, the Oplenac Children’s Festival brought together many of the values that Savremena Primary School promotes every day – learning through experience, curiosity, openness to the world and creating an environment in which children feel free to explore.
This made the festival an ideal setting in which to introduce our school. Rather than formal presentations, every encounter became an opportunity for a relaxed and meaningful conversation. Parents were interested in finding out more about everyday life at Savremena, how individual interests are encouraged and how modern approaches to education can help children experience learning not simply as an obligation, but as something exciting, relevant and inspiring.
Our youngest visitors brought a special kind of energy to these encounters. Their curiosity, smiles and spontaneity reminded us of one of the most important goals of education – preserving a child’s desire to ask questions, discover the world and look forward to something new. For this reason, events such as the Oplenac Children’s Festival are not merely opportunities to present Savremena Primary School. They also allow us to meet families who share similar values and believe that a school should be much more than a place where facts are learned.
The many conversations, new connections and genuine interest shown by visitors made both festival days dynamic, warm and memorable, leaving us with impressions that will remain with us long after the weekend.
Leaving Oplenac with new connections and wonderful memories
For Savremena Primary School, taking part in the Oplenac Children’s Festival was much more than an opportunity to introduce our school. It was a weekend of conversations, new acquaintances, shared experiences and a wonderful atmosphere in which children, families, nature and togetherness took centre stage.
We particularly value events like this because they allow us to present our educational philosophy to parents through direct and personal communication. Every question, expression of interest and smile from a visitor was another reminder of the growing importance of education that responds to the world children are growing up in while preserving what matters most – their curiosity, confidence, creativity and joy of learning.
We therefore returned from Oplenac richer in new connections, pleasant conversations and wonderful memories. We were delighted to be part of an event that brings families together and creates opportunities for meaningful time spent through play, discovery and shared experiences.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by during the festival weekend, met our team and wanted to learn more about Savremena Primary School. We look forward to many more encounters and opportunities to continue building, together with children and their families, an environment in which young people can grow, explore and learn with confidence, curiosity and genuine enthusiasm.
