Preschoolers Visit the Museum of Illusions
Preschoolers at Savremena Primary discovers a world of optical tricks
The preschoolers of Savremena Primary School visited the Museum of Illusions in Belgrade and spent a day filled with curiosity, laughter, surprises and discoveries in a world where things are not always what they seem. This special visit was even more meaningful because it involved the first generation of preschoolers in our primary school, who are already creating wonderful memories and building a strong sense of belonging to the school community.
During the museum tour, the children had the opportunity to step into a space where science, play and imagination meet in the most exciting way. Illusions, mirrors, light effects, unusual rooms and interactive exhibits encouraged them to observe, compare, ask questions and explore. Every corner of the museum brought a new surprise, while the children’s smiles and excitement clearly showed how much they enjoyed the experience.
Their delight was visible at every step. The children gladly took part in the activities, tried out different exhibits, took photos and, with the support of their teachers, discovered how our eyes and brain can sometimes surprise us. It was a day in which learning happened through experience.

When science turns into play
The visit to the Museum of Illusions was an ideal opportunity for the preschoolers to develop attention, observation, logical thinking and curiosity through direct experience. Instead of simply listening to explanations, the children explored the space, tested their own impressions and discovered that what we see is not always exactly as it appears. Such experiences are especially valuable at preschool age, as they encourage children to ask questions, draw conclusions and learn through play.
The greatest excitement came from the mirror rooms, optical illusions, unusual perspectives and installations that allowed the children to find themselves in situations that seemed impossible. At one moment, a space appeared larger or smaller; at another, reflections created countless images, while each new illusion brought joy, wonder and the wish to try again. Through activities like these, children also develop confidence, as they move freely, explore and share their observations.
For the first generation of preschoolers at Savremena Primary School, visits like this have a special value. They are not just outings, but carefully designed experiences that help children discover the world around them, develop social skills and strengthen a sense of togetherness. The Museum of Illusions showed them that learning can be unusual, cheerful, dynamic and full of surprises.
First steps towards big discoveries
Our preschoolers will surely remember their day at the Museum of Illusions for a long time. They returned full of impressions, stories and questions, which is the best sign that the visit was truly successful. When children continue to talk about what they have seen, retell their experiences and want to learn more, we know that learning has been meaningful and alive.
At Savremena Primary School, we believe that the preschool period should be filled with safety, support, play and experiences that awaken curiosity. That is why we strive to provide our youngest learners with opportunities to encounter different places, activities and ideas that encourage them to explore the world with open eyes and joyful hearts.
We are proud of our first generation of preschoolers, who show every day that they are ready to learn, explore, make friends and grow together with their school. Their visit to the Museum of Illusions was another beautiful step on that journey.
