Parents at Work: Third Graders Learn About Proper Hygiene Through an Interactive Workshop
A student's father introduced his profession and organised an engaging workshop to help third graders improve their everyday hygiene habits
As part of the “Parents at Work” project, third-grade students at Savremena Primary School welcomed the father of one of their classmates, who introduced his profession and prepared an interactive workshop dedicated to proper handwashing and everyday hygiene.
Their guest works as a Key Account Manager at Essity, representing Tork, a brand known for its professional hygiene products and solutions, including soap, paper towels and dispensers. Drawing on his professional experience in this field, he decided to share his knowledge with the students and help them understand good hygiene practices in an engaging and accessible way.
At the beginning of the visit, the third graders learned more about his job and the responsibilities associated with his role. They then took part in a workshop designed to demonstrate proper handwashing techniques and encourage better everyday hygiene habits.
Through discussions, practical activities and active participation, students discovered the importance of maintaining good hygiene and paying attention to everyday routines.
The workshop took place in a wonderful atmosphere, with the children showing great enthusiasm, enjoying the shared activities and gaining useful knowledge they can immediately put into practice.
It was also an opportunity to see how professional experience can be transformed into a meaningful learning activity, connecting the world of work with skills that children use every day.

Turning Everyday Hygiene Habits into Practical Learning
The highlight of the visit was an interactive workshop dedicated to proper handwashing. Rather than simply listening to explanations about hygiene, the students were encouraged to participate in carefully prepared activities and discover useful information in an engaging and accessible way.
Particular attention was given to maintaining good hand hygiene and recognising the small changes that can improve everyday routines. Students explored how much attention they usually pay to washing their hands, why proper technique matters and how they can apply what they have learned both at school and at home.
Thanks to the interactive approach, a familiar everyday topic became an opportunity for a new and memorable learning experience. The third graders enthusiastically participated in the workshop and gained a better understanding of how even small details can make a difference when it comes to personal hygiene.
Activities like these are especially valuable because they allow students to move beyond explanations and connect new knowledge with their own experiences and habits.
By the end of the workshop, the children had gained practical advice, new insights and a greater awareness of the importance of maintaining proper hygiene.
In addition, they had an opportunity to discover a profession they may not have previously been familiar with, making the experience both informative and enjoyable.
Parents at Work: Learning Through Parents' Professional Experiences
The “Parents at Work” project at Savremena Primary School gives students the opportunity to explore different professions and gain a better understanding of the working world through visits from their classmates’ parents.
Each visit introduces a new topic, interesting discussions and valuable experiences that enrich the school day. This time, the third graders learned about the role of a Key Account Manager while also taking part in a practical workshop that helped them develop useful everyday skills.
At Savremena Primary School, we believe that learning becomes more meaningful when students can actively participate, ask questions and connect new knowledge with familiar situations. That is why cooperation with parents plays an important role in school life, bringing professional expertise and real-world perspectives into the classroom.
Through these experiences, students develop curiosity, broaden their interests and discover that valuable learning opportunities extend far beyond textbooks.
We would like to thank our guest for his time, enthusiasm and thoughtfully prepared workshop, which gave our third graders the chance to discover something new, improve their hygiene habits and enjoy another rewarding school day at Savremena.
