Programming first-hand: an inspiring classroom experience
Parents at Work
Students of class 3-1 had the opportunity to participate in a special lesson that connected school learning with the modern world of technology in an inspiring way. As part of the “Parents at Work” program, a guest in their classroom was Aco Gagić, a programmer and parent, who introduced students to the dynamic world of programming, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.
Through a carefully designed and age-appropriate presentation, students learned how the applications they use every day are created, as well as what actually happens “behind the screen” when using computers and mobile devices. Basic programming concepts were explained in a simple and understandable way, helping students realize how technology works and how present it is in their everyday lives.
Topics related to artificial intelligence and its application in various fields—from education and medicine to entertainment and communication—sparked particular interest. Students listened with curiosity and actively participated, showing strong enthusiasm for exploring this field further.

Online safety as a key priority
An important part of this session was dedicated to safe internet use, which is essential in today’s digital environment. Students learned how to recognize potential risks, protect their personal data, and use digital devices responsibly.
Through real-life examples and interactive discussion, students developed awareness about the importance of staying safe online. They talked about situations they might encounter and how to respond appropriately. This approach helps students become not only technology users, but also responsible and aware participants in the digital world.
Developing digital literacy from an early age is one of the key goals of modern education, and experiences like this contribute significantly to achieving that goal.
Learning that connects school and real life
The “Parents at Work” program plays an important role in helping students learn about different professions and better understand the world of work. Having parents as guest speakers creates an authentic and engaging learning experience.
During this lesson, students not only expanded their knowledge but also developed curiosity, asked questions, and reflected on possible future interests. Meeting a programmer opened the door to understanding professions that shape the modern world and highlighted the importance of technology in everyday life.
Moments like these show how important it is for education to be connected with real-life experiences. When students learn from professionals, knowledge becomes more meaningful, practical, and lasting. Through activities like this, school becomes a place where knowledge is not only gained, but truly understood and applied.
