New CORNER DAY at Savremena: we competed, played and had fun!
Friday, 31 January, was the last day of school in the first semester of 2019/2020. Therefore, Primary School Savremena decided to organise another Corner Day, the theme of which was “Compete, play and have fun”.
Students could take part in six workshops. They had a really great time, learnt many new things and left for their well-deserved holidays in good spirits.
Music and dance – the last day of school filled with song
The first workshop was held in the music classroom, where students of Primary School Savremena participated in a large karaoke party. As music encourages sociability and develops children’s social skills, this form of teaching is indispensable at Primary School Savremena. The children had fun singing and dancing to the tune of their favourite songs, creating a great atmosphere befitting the last day of school in the first semester.
After the party in the music classroom, the students moved to the common room and continued their socialising there. Supervised by their teachers Sara and Persida, they played under the slogan “Look before you leap”, learning a lot through play. They practiced coordination through balloon dance, played a memory game, limbo dance, etc.
Board games and jigsaw puzzles – A COGNITIVE workout
After active games in the first part of the January Corner Day, the children moved on to more static workshops which didn’t involve jumping and physical activity. The children played board games, using educational cards, and then assembled jigsaw puzzles in the robotics classroom, thus improving their creative thinking.
The students had fun, laughed and developed their competitive spirit through play. The workshops were overflowing with positive energy, shared jokes and the “contest” of who would be the first to get the desired number by rolling a dice.
VR STARSHIP – VIrtual journey as a perfect ending of the semester
The best fun awaited in the fifth workshop where the children had the opportunity to hitch a ride in a VR Starship. The “spacecraft” located in Primary School Savremena’s lobby could hold six people at a time, and they enjoyed different rollercoaster rides, as well as a tour of the human body realized by means of virtual reality.
“It was awesome! This spaceship is super exciting, I flew through the sky and went to the Moon. I’m thrilled, our school is so much fun.” Luka, IV-1.
The last 30 minutes were reserved for a geography quiz, after which satisfied children went to lunch and then to their well-deserved holidays. A new meeting with their friends at Primary School Savremena is scheduled for February 18.
