“My School” – exhibition at Savremena for a truly different upbringing
The students used modern techniques to create spatial drawings and 3D collages
There aren’t enough attributes to describe each detail at Primary School Savremena, where we use important words to talk even about the smallest things.
And these words are: future, the 21st century, environmental awareness, healthy upbringing, friendship, peer tutoring, sports, art. And out of the need to address this through drawings, the “My School” exhibition was born.
In Art lessons, the little ones covered spatial drawings using modern techniques and learnt how to design interesting, interactive collages, both standard and 3D ones.
Their mentor for this exhibition was Art teacher Suzana Vulović, and the kids worked with paper materials and used magazines, interesting illustrations, card stock and collage paper, marker pens, glue, canvas, string, etc.
HEALTHY FOOD AND ROBOTS – SCHOOLYARD AND MODERN PREMISES
The students opted to portray their school by making interesting works on healthy food, by displaying computer elements (keyboards, robots and computers), but also by presenting the school premises whereby, like little architects, they created original forms of a somewhat cosmic nature.
The students used solid frames to hang their works, thus turning this creative workshop into an exhibition in the school hallways. Some of the most interesting pieces referred to the school gate, which resembled a portal into the future.
MY SCHOOL – A GOOD WAY TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN
Each lesson at Savremena is the product of a carefully designed process, and art lessons are there to engage the students’ hands and minds. The students constantly try their hands at different art forms. Because it’s one thing to learn theory about collages, it’s another to make them. It’s one thing to learn about galleries, it’s another to create one. It’s one thing to learn about artists, it’s quite another to become one.
For our little artists, the synthesis of theory and practice is a winning combination. And what’s particularly inspiring about their “small” project is that through creative work, they said many nice things about Savremena, as the research process required them to express their views of their school.
The students worked together, sharing ideas and impressions. This created an even deeper bond between the students and their school. The “My School” exhibition promoted love among children and encouraged everyone to share joy and a positive attitude towards the values championed by this school.
