A sound mind in a sound body

Savremena’s students show a great love of basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and football. They have recently fallen in love with gymnastics too. They do vigorous exercise, starting each day with gymnastics. Regular physical activity allows them to wake up properly and boosts their concentration and efficiency when they do schoolwork, which in turn leads to quick, wise, and meaningful contributions in classes on their part.

The best time to develop healthy habits is early on in primary school as that can have an enormous effect on how much physical activity you have for the rest of your life. Morning exercise at Savremena is already becoming a tradition and the students always do it with a smile on their face, having loads of fun in the process. Thus, they’re prepared to successfully fulfil their responsibilities during the school day.

Students love doing morning gymnastics at Savremena

Children can only benefit from active play, as well as opportunities for organised or spontaneous physical activity. That is why Savremena’s students enjoy gymnastics and cheerfully repeat the phrase “a sound mind in a sound body”. It would be nice if adults followed their example.

PE classes are not obligatory in schools without a reason. Physical activity and sport are crucial in order for children to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally the way they should. Children should be encouraged to take exercise as it brings innumerable advantages. For example, exercise:

  • has a positive effect on children’s growth, development, and a good posture
  • builds muscles
  • promotes better concentration
  • improves motor skills
  • raises awareness of the importance of health and the need to maintain it
  • leads to a higher level of fitness
  • helps you sleep better.
