Little explorers of nature:

Preschoolers learn about the world around them

As part of the “Plants and Water” project, our preschoolers had the opportunity to explore the natural world around them in a way that is close and meaningful to their age. Through play, observation, and hands-on activities, children discovered how plants grow, what they need to survive, and why water plays such an important role in that process.

They were especially fascinated by the idea that plants “drink” water, which sparked their curiosity and encouraged further exploration. By watering plants every day, children were able to observe changes, notice differences, and understand cause-and-effect relationships. In this way, they not only learned about nature but also developed a sense of responsibility and care for living things.

Through conversations and shared activities, children explored where water can be found – in rivers, rain, soil, and even in the air. This approach helped them connect new knowledge with their own experiences, making learning both meaningful and lasting. At the same time, the project supported the development of social skills, cooperation, and communication among children.

Learning through play and exploration

During the project, preschoolers participated in a variety of activities that connected science, art, and everyday life. Through experiments and observation, they discovered how water affects plants and why it is essential for people and animals as well. These insights were further reinforced through creative tasks such as drawing, making collages, and working with natural materials.

Children enthusiastically used flowers, leaves, and other elements from nature to create their artworks, developing imagination and fine motor skills along the way. Each piece reflected their unique perception of nature and their understanding of what they had learned.

Outdoor activities played a special role, allowing children to directly explore their environment. Touching the soil, planting, and working together strengthened their connection with nature and raised awareness of its importance.

By asking questions, discussing ideas, and sharing thoughts, preschoolers developed early critical thinking skills and a natural curiosity for learning.

Foundations for future learning

The “Plants and Water” project highlighted the importance of experiential learning and active participation. Through simple yet meaningful activities, preschoolers developed an understanding of natural processes and recognized the interconnectedness of the living world.

This approach fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of learning – essential foundations for future education. Children learned that caring for plants also means caring for life and that water is a precious resource that should be protected and used responsibly.

Through smiles, play, and shared discovery, our preschoolers showed that they are ready to explore, learn, and grow. Their curiosity and enthusiasm prove that they are true little explorers, eager to continue their journey of discovery.
