In the age we live in, smart trees are very necessary, and Primary School Savremena decided to “plant” one such tree in its yard. A tree with solar panels will use sunlight to generate energy, and the contents it can offer are numerous. By using the tree, the students will learn all about the sustainable use of energy, and they will be able to use all its advantages.

Respecting the ideas and imagination of our students, we created a contest for the design of a solar tree in the yard of Primary School Savremena, so that they could design an ideal place for socialising and learning.

Contest participants had the challenging task of offering a design proposal for a solar tree layout with an integrated bench. However, our students would not be truly different if they did not also have the task of investigating how the solar tree works, what is the use of solar energy and in what ways can it contribute to the improvement of the environment and the quality of education and life.

The expert jury had a very difficult task in front of them – in the sea of colours and creative pencils and crayons strokes, the work of student Sofika Zaika from class VII-2 stood out. She showed not only creativity but also enviable art technique and advanced academic research on solar energy.

We were also amazed by the work of Lara Radoičić and Lara Šopić from the class V-1, who presented in a very creative way all the ways in which solar trees can be fun and interesting to the students of Savremena.

The students had the opportunity to imagine their favourite place for sitting, hanging out, studying and a modern way of communicating with the environment, and it’s up to us to turn their idea into reality!

We can’t wait for spring when the solar tree will decorate the yard of Savremena!
