Introducing Savremena students to environmental activism

Savremena teachers visited Eco-school seminar

The association Serbia I Want organized a seminar for teachers from Belgrade elementary schools in Goč last week, titled Eco-school, and Savremena teachers: Branka Đurović, Maja Matić and Branka Milićević were among the participants.

The Eco-school project comprises three stages. The seminar itself represents stage one, and Savremena teachers had the opportunity to learn more about the project and the work of their colleagues from other schools. Stage two will involve student workshops, whereas stage three is focused on a joint project.

Savremena students learn about the importance of environmental protection from the very first day of school, both in regular classes, and by participating in various creative tasks and exercises that address environmental topics. They are always happy to join different actions and initiatives, and this time was no different.

“Caring for the environment is caring for a common future” – this is the motto that all our students and teachers who nurture eco-friendly orientation are guided by. We firmly believe that the goals of the Eco-school project will be achieved.

The aim is to introduce students to the concept of environmental activism and animations, importance of protected areas, and the proper waste segregation and disposal.

SAVREMENA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREEN SCHOOL

We can boast the fact that Savremena is the only school truly green school in Serbia that:

  • relies on technology to eliminate the need for paper, thus saving trees;
  • reduces energy consumption thanks to its smart, well-insulated building;
  • is equipped with sensors that adjust room temperature as needed;
  • is part of a significant international program Eco-school, run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

We are happy and proud that our students will continue to support environmental protection through continuous education and initiatives.
