International Day Against Peer Violence marked at Savremena
Combating violence through education
To mark the International Day Against Peer Violence, also known as the Pink T-shirt Day, which is celebrated on the last Wednesday in February, Savremena organised a series of preventive activities to remind everyone of the importance of empathy, respect for rights and diversity, mutual respect and constructive communication.
Thanks to a modern pedagogical approach and the program aimed at developing multiple intelligences, Savremena students develop interpersonal intelligence from the very first day of school – achieving good communication with others, maturing emotionally, respecting diversity, and building tolerance for others.
Savremena teachers and counselors are dedicated to students, and aim to educate them on the importance of understanding the needs of others. Teachers work on the prevention of peer violence through various workshops and conversations with students, but also by personal example, which helps students establish good communication with others, develop empathy, and adequately interpret their own actions and behavior.
In celebration of the International Day Against Peer Violence, Savremena designed an interactive display for its students, and installed it in the school hall. The display is shaped like a big pink t-shirt and designed so that students can leave messages of support and encouragement for others, and pick a badge – a self-adhesive miniature pink t-shirt with a message, to give to a friend of their choosing, thus symbolically drawing attention to the importance of combat against peer violence and respectful communication.
Savremena is a safe, violence-free environment where children grow into independent, tolerant and well-mannered people. We are proud that our students always follow the rules of good behavior and never lose sight of what is right.
