In Primary School Savremena, we used the nice weather and held a class outdoors. Connecting the learning material from the subject of Technical Education with the material from the subject of Civic Education, we designed an exciting, interactive and practical class that the students will remember for a long time.

The main topic of the lesson was how to behave in traffic because it is very important for children to take it seriously, not only because they need to behave well but also because of their safety outside the school. The fifth-grade students had the opportunity to test their knowledge about the traffic rules they learned in Technical Education classes in a practical way and in controlled conditions, while at the same time they refreshed their knowledge gained in the lessons about the traffic they had as part of Civic Education classes.

The traffic training area included a roundabout, pedestrian crossings, school zones and a parking lot. Each student had the opportunity to be in both roles of traffic participants – to be both the drivers and pedestrians. In this way, they gained experience in the application of traffic rules in a real environment and realised how important they are for the safety of all traffic participants.

Interactive classes, as well as classes in nature, outdoors and outside the classroom are not new to our students, but they always look forward to them. The teachers at Savremena also enjoy preparing non-standard, creative lessons where students gain new knowledge and new experience. The team spirit that our school is generally known for is truly noticeable in classes like this.
