In November, as part of the “LINK kidZ & Youth Without Borders Community Club” programme, Primary School Savremena hosted the students and teachers of “Bora Stanković” Primary School from Tibužde near Vranje, with which a “Cooperation Protocol” was recently signed.

The school principal, music teacher, pedagogue, seven teachers and 39 students came to visit us. We welcomed our guests with the song “Only friendship never ends”. Then we exchanged welcome cards, and our students presented them with gifts. Inspired by the warm welcome and as a sign of gratitude, the guests reciprocated by performing the same song. They had a great time trying out virtual reality in Starship in the lobby of Savremena, and the class with our super teacher Pepper in the Science Hub left a special impression on them.

During the two days of their stay, the students and teachers of this school visited Information Technology High School – ITHS, as well as Savremena Gimnazija, and then, through a walk around the city, they got to see and learn about the attractions of Belgrade: Church of Saint Sava, Kalemegdan Fortress and “Jevremovac” Botanical Garden, while the Museum of Illusions left the biggest impression on them.

Through this informal meeting and socialising with their peers and colleagues, the students and teachers of “Bora Stanković” Primary School and the schools of our system gained another new experience and made new friends, and this meeting of the same generations from different parts of the country, yet with similar interests, made everyone happy and proud and they all will certainly remember it fondly for a long time.

The visit was organised and conducted by LINK edu Alliance, which covered all the expenses of this study trip. This kind of direct exchange of experience, conversations, emotions, and joy is a continuation of the cooperation that began when LINK edu Alliance representative visited “Bora Stanković” Primary School and donated it teaching aids that greatly facilitate the process of teaching and learning and make it of higher quality.

In early October, LINKgroup established the “LINK edu Alliance Heroes in Education” Fund with the aim of helping students, schools, principals, teachers and non-teaching staff – heroes – to overcome obstacles in their efforts to provide students with quality education as universal human right and a prerequisite for the successful functioning of people and society.

The first hero in education is Danijel Davitković, a teacher from “Bora Stanković” Primary School in Tibužde, who, despite the difficult conditions of his journey to the school and class where he had only one student, found ways to introduce the student to digital technologies and provide him with the knowledge that he could not have had otherwise.
