Hogwarts points system for older grades

Nurturing the spirit of togetherness among Savremena’s students

In order to keep developing the collective spirit and the sense of togetherness among the children, Primary School Savremena has decided to introduce the Hogwarts house points system, to help students learn to be responsible towards themselves, others and the environment, and contribute to their community. They will act both individually and as team players, working towards achievements that bring along rewards. The plan is to introduce this system into all classes starting from December.

AN INSPIRING COMMUNITY FOR DEVELOPING THE SENSE OF COMMON GOOD

Surrounded by peers, children benefit through relationships that develop in an environment that motivates them to advance themselves and learn. The Hogwarts system will enrich each student’s personality, turning Savremena’s premises into a more inspiring environment where children play, explore, cooperate and learn. They will learn that effort, continual self-advancement and initiative are always worthwhile and rewarding.

All classes in grades 5 through 8 started December with 1,000 initial points each. Based on the students’ achievements, the classes will gain or lose points; besides the students’ marks, their discipline will also reflect on their points, as well as their preparedness for lessons, classroom tidiness, the ways students treat each other, and participation in competitions, free activities and projects.

Peer cooperation based on mutual support will result in an active contribution to activities of common interest – victory, success, and the feeling of pride they bring.

Students will be able to view the points and monitor their class’s daily progress on the screen in the school hall. Insight into rankings will result in mutual motivation to reach the first place. The desire to engage with certain topics and projects will grow by their own initiative. In an entirely organic way, the students will consider strategies to improve, and develop them as teams. They will connect and build the spirit of togetherness upon a healthy foundation, strengthen their friendships, and develop skills they will find useful later in life. The idea that each class should come up with their own crest has also been accepted, as there is no doubt it will awaken the children’s creativity and a sense of belonging to something wonderful.

The class that concludes the term with the highest number of points will receive an award.

We have embarked upon another valuable mission, important for social and emotional development.
