The fourth day of School Sports Week at Savremena Primary School, Thursday, 24 September, was dedicated to volleyball. Following table tennis, athletics and basketball, students faced a new challenge that put teamwork, communication, precision and mutual trust firmly in the spotlight.

From the first serve, it was clear that an exciting sporting day was ahead. Teams competed for every point, with great plays and dynamic rallies keeping the matches interesting, while students on the sidelines enthusiastically supported their classmates. The competitive spirit was strong, but so were the fair play and respect for opponents that had characterised the previous days.

At Savremena, sport is an important part of students’ overall development. Physical activity is not simply an opportunity to take a break from lessons, but a space where children develop perseverance, confidence, responsibility and the ability to cooperate with others.

Volleyball is a perfect example of this. Every successful play depends on several players, their communication and their willingness to trust one another. In this way, students develop skills beyond the classroom that will be valuable throughout their education and personal development, while also enjoying movement, friendship and healthy competition.

After a series of exciting volleyball matches, class VII-2 had the greatest reason to celebrate, delivering an excellent performance to secure first place in the tournament.

Their journey to victory demonstrated just how important every member of a volleyball team can be. A strong serve may provide an advantage, but maintaining a successful game requires accurate passing, concentration, quick reactions and, above all, cooperation. The students of VII-2 managed to bring all these elements together and achieve the best result through their collective effort.

Experiences like these are an important part of student life at Savremena. The school encourages children to be active participants, explore different interests and develop their potential through practical experiences. Some students may discover their strengths in sport, others in art, technology, languages or science, but what matters is that every student has the opportunity to discover where they can shine.

The volleyball tournament also reminded students that success is not always individual. Sometimes, the best results come when different strengths are brought together and team members learn to rely on one another.

Congratulations to class VII-2 on taking first place, as well as to all the teams that participated, showed determination and contributed to the fantastic atmosphere on Day Four of School Sports Week.

Four days of School Sports Week have already brought four different challenges. From the precision required in table tennis and perseverance in athletics to strategy in basketball and cooperation and communication in volleyball, students have had opportunities to demonstrate a wide range of abilities.

This reflects the educational approach Savremena promotes throughout the school year. School is not simply a place where academic knowledge is acquired. It should be an environment where students explore their interests, develop their talents, build confidence and establish healthy habits.

Sport plays a particularly important role in this process because it teaches students how to set goals, persevere when things become difficult, accept results and keep moving forward. Team sports also teach them to listen to others, cooperate and understand that collective success depends on each individual’s contribution.

Thursday, 24 September, therefore brought much more than another winner of School Sports Week. It brought new experiences, plenty of movement, cheering and friendship, as well as another opportunity for students to learn beyond the traditional classroom.
