Girls in Action: Celebrating International Day of the Girl Through Sport at Savremena

Volleyball, football and teamwork made this a day of friendship, physical activity and valuable life skills.

At Savremena Primary School, International Day of the Girl, observed on 11 October, was celebrated through sport! Pupils had the opportunity to demonstrate their energy, sporting abilities and team spirit through volleyball and small-sided football, enjoying a day filled with games, friendship and exciting challenges.

The sporting activities gave the girls an opportunity to develop their skills, encourage one another and discover the importance of cooperation, perseverance and mutual support through playing together.

At Savremena, some of the most valuable lessons are learned beyond textbooks. They emerge on the sports field, through shared challenges, new experiences and small achievements that build lasting confidence.

That is why sport plays an important role in everyday school life, forming part of an educational approach that supports every aspect of a child’s development. Each activity offers pupils another opportunity to discover their potential, establish healthy habits and experience the joy of learning through movement and play.

Developing Skills for Life Through Sport

Volleyball and small-sided football gave the pupils an opportunity to take on different sporting challenges while developing skills that extend far beyond the playing field.

Teamwork, communication, decision-making, perseverance and self-confidence are just some of the essential skills nurtured at Savremena through everyday activities and experiential learning.

When pupils work together towards a shared goal, they learn to recognise their strengths, appreciate the contributions of others and find solutions in different situations. Such experiences make an important contribution to their emotional and social development.

At Savremena Primary School, physical activity is much more than recreation. It forms an important part of a modern educational approach that connects knowledge with practical experience, combining academic development with healthy habits and essential life skills.

Through sport, pupils develop a positive attitude towards physical activity, learn to embrace challenges and gradually build confidence in their abilities.

Celebrating International Day of the Girl in this way once again highlighted the importance of creating a school environment where children feel motivated to participate, explore their interests and develop their talents.

Savremena: A School Where Every Experience Inspires Growth

At Savremena Primary School, every school day brings opportunities for new knowledge, meaningful experiences and personal discovery. Special attention is therefore given to activities that encourage pupils to learn through play, exploration, collaboration and practical experiences.

Sport is an essential part of this educational philosophy. Alongside physical development, it helps build character, responsibility, discipline and self-confidence, qualities that are equally important for success at school and in everyday life.

By marking International Day of the Girl through volleyball and football, the pupils enjoyed another opportunity to stay active, develop their abilities and spend meaningful time together.

Events like these reflect a school environment that values friendship, cooperation, healthy competition and the joy of learning.

Because at Savremena, education does not end when the textbooks close. It continues on the sports field, through friendships, challenges and experiences that prepare children for life.
