From the Classroom to University: Third Graders Explore the Profession of a Mathematics Professor
Through clues, questions and an engaging presentation, pupils discovered a fascinating profession
What profession could be hiding behind a series of intriguing clues? This was the challenge awaiting third-grade pupils at Savremena Primary School during a special visit from one of the parents, who introduced her career in a creative and interactive way.
Rather than revealing her profession immediately, the guest prepared a presentation highlighting her daily responsibilities, activities and tasks. With every new clue, pupils were encouraged to think carefully, connect information and share their ideas.
After plenty of guesses and enthusiastic discussions, the mystery was finally solved: their guest was a university mathematics professor.

Curious Questions and Inspiring Discoveries
Once the profession had been revealed, the classroom came alive with questions. Pupils were eager to discover what working at a university involves, what a mathematics professor does and why this profession matters.
One of the most valuable parts of the experience was watching the children draw their own conclusions about the importance of teaching mathematics and sharing knowledge with future generations.
The visit also sparked conversations about future ambitions, with many pupils expressing an interest in pursuing the same profession one day.
Discovering Future Possibilities at Savremena
At Savremena Primary School, encounters like this help pupils explore the world of professions through meaningful conversations and real-life experiences.
Parental involvement makes these experiences even more valuable. By sharing their professional knowledge and personal experiences, parents enrich classroom learning and help children gain a better understanding of the world around them. Their visits also strengthen the connection between school and family, giving pupils the opportunity to discover different careers, understand their importance and explore the skills needed to pursue them.
By actively participating, asking questions and drawing independent conclusions, third graders strengthened their curiosity, critical thinking and communication skills while discovering the importance of mathematics in education and everyday life.
At Savremena, learning goes beyond acquiring knowledge. It is also about discovering interests, developing talents and exploring the possibilities that the future holds.
