Fresh renditions of popular numbers

First music competition at Savremena

Children are the treasure of the world, and our little ones are surely the treasure of Savremena. This time, they awakened the magic of the art of music and made everyone’s day. For the first time, there was a music competition at our school, and we believe it will become a tradition, considering the number of talents that have surfaced this time.

Music teacher Miloš Petrović showed great initiative as the main organiser; generously assisted by students and his colleagues, he materialised his idea of organising a music competition.

The event attracted a lot of interest, and many students applied to showcase their talent and courageously use the PA that was placed in the schoolyard. All students from grades 1 through 8 were eligible as groups or soloists.

WELL-KNOWN CHORUSES FOR A CHEERFUL ATMOSPHERE

The first-graders opened the proceedings, with a rendition of Little Elephants, managing to entertain the audience and other participants alike. The very sight of them was enough to bring smiles to everyone’s faces, and their little show was awarded by a round of applause.

Savremena’s students walked us through a number of types of quality music with a wide-ranging repertoire that included songs by Bajaga and Đorđe Balašević, as well as different sorts of global hits, and also some school songs, fascinating us with their talent in all cases.

As this was the first competition of this type at Savremena, there was no actual ranking – everyone was commended for their effort and courage.

IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT

The benefits of engaging with music from an early age are manifold. Through music competitions, children ought to be motivated and encouraged to show their talent. Music is conducive to creativity, imagination and the expression of emotions.

Music engages the entire brain – while the child is learning to play an instrument and sing, both hemispheres are active, which helps develop intelligence, especially when it comes to abstract thinking. It affects both psychological and physical development; entering the world of music, the child begins to actively develop their sense of aesthetic judgment and a more complex relationship towards art in general.

Savremena’s students are real magicians; they have enchanted us with their wonderful interpretations. Once again, they have shown us what it looks like when a performance is approached with a lot of love.

Just keep it up, dear students!
